The video below starts at the Loews Hairpin in Monaco and then goes up into the hills behind Monte Carlo and ends up at the Gorges de Daluis.
The Gorges de Daluis is a deep, narrow gorge on the Upper Var River located in the Alpes-Maritimes department in southeastern France. This road is one of the most famous so called 'balcony roads' in the country. A balcony road is a hair-raising lane cut into the sides of sheer cliffs. The famous gorges are a six-kilometer-long canyon formed by the river Var within the D2202 road, running south from Guillaumes to Daluis otherwise known as Red Rock Road.
In the sequence of videos after you will find one from Jun 17 about resurfacing the Col de Rousset. At least we know won't bump into the tarmacer's here for a while. This looks to be an amazing journey in Provence....
As ever probably the best video's are from EVO COTY 2013 (911GT3 won) was hosted on the famous N85 'Route Napoleon'. So I've included them as well. The section from about 9 minutes in on the part ii video with the GT3 flying around the hairpins at dusk is pure magic. I’ve also got Chris Harris (with US mates) driving the N85 before going to Monaco for the GP…..
The Col du Turini is a famous road from the Monte Carlo Rally days. A 27k road behind Nice that has multiple hairpins.
Henry Catchpole did a fab review of the McLaren MP4 12C back in 2012 touring France, over to Rheims to see the old circuit, a great section going up the Col de la Bonnet [Col de la Bonette (el. 2,715 metres (8,907 ft)) is a high mountain pass in the French Alps, near the border with Italy. It is situated within the Mercantour National Park] and ending up in Monte Carlo.
I've also sneaked in a lap of Le Mans.....
My first visit to le Mans since 1983, took my first boxster to the race in 1999. Here up by the old dunlop bridge on the monday morning after the race in the days when you could get onto the track.
Here are some nice videos of the French Alps.
